Phoebe Dynevor has not been approached for the fourth season of Bridgerton, despite filming currently underway. In an interview with The Direct, Dynevor revealed that she has not received a call yet to reprise her role as Daphne Bridgerton. This news may disappoint fans, but it may not come as a surprise as Daphne was absent from the third season. The showrunner, Jess Brownell, explained that they had initially planned to address Daphne’s absence in the third season but eventually decided not to explain it. Despite not appearing on screen, Daphne and Simon are still considered part of the universe by the show’s creators.
The first season of Bridgerton focused on Daphne’s love story with the Duke of Hastings, played by Regé-Jean Page. The second season shifted its focus to Daphne’s brother Anthony Bridgerton and newcomer Kate Sharma, while the third season explored the love affair between Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. The upcoming fourth season will center around Benedict Bridgerton and will be based on events from Julia Quinn’s third Bridgerton novel, An Offer From a Gentleman.
